Bentley have been part of the VW Group since 1998, they launched the Bentley Continental GT in 2003. The first Continental GT uses a 6.0 litre W12 twin turbo, with a 4.0 litre V8 twin turbo being introduced in 2011. A 4 door version, The Flying Spur was luanched in 2006. The Bentayga, Bentley’s first production SUV, was launched in 2015 and has three engine options, the 6.0 litre twin turbo, 4.0 litre twin turbo and 4.0 litre V8 twin turbo Diesel. The Bentley Mulsanne replaced the Arnage in 2011 as Bentley’s flagship sedan a 4 door luxury sedan with a 6.7 litre V8 twin turbo a classic Bentely/Rolls Royce engine.
Bentleys are mostly low mileage, but should be serviced regularly. Early vehicles suffered with water damage due to drain pipes not being cleaned in cheaper services. The tyre pressure sensors have a working life of 8-10 years and will fail. Engines are very reliable, but must be maintained as very few parts are made for them, due to their machine finish, so replacement is costly. Parking brake motor failure is common on earlier models. Flat batteries are also common to Bentley’s weekend-car status and where possible a charger should be used if the car is left for any length of time.
